“Hi, my name is Chris, I’m calling from Microsoft. We’ve noticed that you have a number of errors on your computer and would like to fix them.”

Woah! Hold on a second there.

Microsoft doesn’t make it a habit of monitoring whether or not the people using their products are experiencing “errors” or other issues with their products. That would be virtually impossible given the volume of software that they sell.

It’s virtually unheard of for Microsoft to call their end-user customers for “quality control”, or just to check up on them. That’s just silly.

These calls are blatant attempts to gain access to your computer and therefore your personal information, and have unfortunately been making the rounds thru out our area.

Play it safe, don’t give the caller any personal information, and do not allow them to access your computer remotely.

What do you do if you get one of these calls?

    It’s simple.

    1) Hang up.

    2) Make note of the date, time and the phone number they called you from on your caller ID.

    That’s it.

See, I told you it was simple.

If you have any questions or concerns about possible fraudulent calls regarding your computer, or damage that may have been done by allowing one of these callers access to your computer, feel free to call us!
